Build Details
Started in about Dec 2023 after casting around for a project of some sort. I'd always had an interest in building a kit car, but not the budget or patience, and this seemed like a good alternative. Fairly simple and something that can be done in the shed with basic tools and a welder. Frame is 75x25 RHS, front springs are the first leaf of a light trailer slipper spring. I forged eyes on the slipper end, not very successfully but they work. Beam axle is 50mm tube, cut and welded to form the risers. Stub axles are 5/8 bolts welded to a machined tube for the vertical link with steering arms fabricated and welded on. King pins are 12mm bolts. Rack and pinion from ebay. Rear axle is solid 25mm round bar with 6mm keyways machined into it, machined down to 19mm? at each end to fit through the wheel bearings with a thread formed at the end for a wheel nut. Sprockets, discs etc all gokart. #35 chain. Engine is a 210 cc TDKMAN electric start with torque converter. Handbrake is a caravan brake connected to a cable operated calliper. Aluminium skin over a steel framework.
