    Hello cycle martens,
We would like to introduce ourselves to the cycle kart community.
My name is Brendan (Boydy) and my partner in crime is my father Jim.
We are based in Perth W.A. and are keen to be a part of this new and exciting motorsport.
We have decided we are going to build a Brooklyn’s Riley.
Progress has been excellent leading up to Christmas, but things have sort of ground to a halt over the last three weeks.
It doesn’t help that I decided that the workshop needed a full overhaul in order to complete such an important project. This includes insulation and air conditioning (of course) as the summers get pretty hot here in W.A. and neither of us are spring chickens any more and the workshop is 42 m² tin shed.
I can’t believe I got the Mrs to approve the expense! But she does love the old man.
Also a good excuse to buy ourselves a few new toys for the workshop. Compressor, drill press, pipe benders etc.
Anyway enough bragging about my new workshop.
Progress prior to quit Christmas was good we manage to collect two sets of wheels, heap of tyres, tubes, the steering rack, motor, torque converter,
Diff (Yes I said diff. We actually manage to score a working differential the perfect size for the kart. It was lying around on the shelf of an engineer friend of dads from a previous project he had). We also managed to get the chassis started and the front springs mounted.
The steering wheel, believe it or not, I have had for about 30 years, and it was old then. It looks like it might be just the ticket.
Here’s a couple of pictures showing the inspiration, the progress and Jim.
Look forward to posting future updates.
