Done some more aesthetic work and finishing up, getting ready for the Goulburn drive day on the weekend. Starting to look really good with the forest green, brown leather and brass finishes.

After deliberating about building a cyclekart for almost 3 years its time to get cracking and start a build. The original plan and early design drawings were to be based on an Austin 7 Ulster Special, but I'm having second thoughts and could possible do an ERA or even a replica of a family member's Hudson Terraplane Special he raced at the 1938 and 1939 Australian Grand Prix's.
Finally got the ERA running and driving. Found some issues with the mounting of the rear axle. I knew tapping a M8x1.5 thread into 2mm steel was never going to hold but for some reason I did it anyway. I've redone the mounting by putting an M10 12.9HT bolt through the whole chassis from above and welding it into place along with crush tubes.
I was running with the idea of leaving the kart unpainted but to me it looked pretty average to say the very least and very unfinished. So i went back to the original idea of painting it. Many hours spent smoothing out bodywork, shaping and filling where required. The result isnt perfect but is pretty good for a backyard jobby.
Colour is Forest RAL6009 Forest Green. A little lighter than Brunswick or BRG but looks good to me and is a nice contrast to the brass and brown leather I will be fitting
Slowly pushing along. I will be running my 12v starter and accessories off a Milwaukee M12 High Output battery. Wiring for the starter and GPS speedo has been completed. Motor turns over but nowhere near ready to run yet.
Ticking off all the little jobs. I rushed the aesthetics to get something to take to shows, its just the mechanicals and going back and finishing this off. This is what takes all the time.
Goal is to be ready and running for the Seiffert Showdown in April
