    Race Meet Location
Posted on Wednesday, 15 November 2023
Thought I'd start a thread for race meet location ideas. I've been scouring through the local go-kart tracks to see if there is one that might be suitable. The commercial ones are pretty expensive to hire and the club tracks are generally only open t ...

I don't know why that change was made to the conditions. Could be local resident complaints, could be risk / accident related or maybe something more politically motivated. I've made contact with the council, but waiting for the land management department to get back to me. If I can get an understanding of why the clause was added, I may be able to mitigate for it. After all, whilst Cyclekarting is related to GoKarting, it's not the same sport. I might also reach out to the club and see if they can shed any more light on it.  More ...

The track is pretty tight, certainly would be interesting with only one braked wheel. The gate is padlocked, otherwise I would be tempted to take my cart over for a quick spin, you can only get thrown out ! I would think the track was closed due to noise complaints from the neighbours.  More ...

The main issue is that they are generally used 7 days a week and whilst they do offer private hire, it is only for a few hours and works out to be fairly expensive. Then there is the issue of insurance relating to vehicles that are not maintained by the track owners and are not built to a specified standard. The more you look into this, the more of a can of worms it becomes.

There is a similar issue with using GoKart club tracks. They are also used 7 days a week, generally being open for club members for testing / training when not being used for club events. Even if Cyclekart owners became financial members of the club so that they could used the track, the slower vehicles would no doubt be a hinderance to the faster Go Karts, plus there might be limited opportunity for organising Cyclekart events.

I'm hoping that we can find a track that has availability for us to use for one night a month without being super expensive.
