- Profile location
- Build page - Cyclekart Build Status
- Groups - Updated forum functionality
The first item has already been posted about but I'll include it again here for anyone who missed it.
Profile location
More granularity has been added to the location fields in your user profile. Previously we only recorded the State, which made it difficult for Group admins to determine where members were located. It also made it difficult to search for other members in your locality.
Location has now been expanded to include Country + State + City.
You can view a users location by viewing the 'About' section of their profile, or search for users by location using the advance search feature.
You can also click the location details on a users profile and view other users that share the same Country, State or City. This will bring up a list of all users that share the same details.
Build page - Cyclekart Build Status
Another requested feature was a way to determine what status someones Cyclekart build was at. This has been added to the build page in the form of a drop down list that can be set by editing your profile.
As with the profile location you can also click through to view a list of the users that share the same build status.
Groups - Updated forum functionality
A fairly major change has been an update of the Group Forums. Previously these were a bit clunky to use and the posts were not easy to create. The Groups forums have now been updated to use the same interface style as the main forums. The same editor is now used making it much easier to create content.
Post notifications have also been improved and all posts are now posted to the streams on both the Group and main website Feed as well as reported by email.
Hopefully this should make the forums much more useable.
It is worth noting that Group forum posts only appear in the Group in which they are posted and are not shown on the main forum page.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -

My thoughts on the running gear, this should be split into, rear end, (engine mounting and drive axle) and front end, (steering).
I have found sourcing parts to get started the hardest part, so if there is any way we can help new builders through this part it would be helpful,
this would be a constant work in progress no doubt, as the materials and part suppliers come and go.
Many of the suppliers mentioned no longer supply.
So an "updatable list".
"The latest improved designs", for example I have re-drawn the standard chassis plan in metric, this would help builders.
The rear axle I have re-designed, still the standard size and 25mm axle but is a stronger design, you may see this on my build page.
I will make a video to show this.
I am not a social media or forum person so this is new to me but as I said before, thanks for the work you put in over all it is working well.

As this is new to most of us we are trying to navigate the site and get familiar with it, I understand this is possibly the cause of a lot of our issues.
I did try to establish a build page, it wasn't working, but this is all good now.
Otherwise thank you for you work in the site, overall it is working well.
It would be helpful if we could establish the area of each builder and there stage of build.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -
Yes it's a busy time, I am making my front axles, I am just working on my spring mounts once the springs are mounted I will get onto the front axles.
The back axle is complete but i'm not sure which sprocket and disk brake to buy, so many options.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -

To all WA members, if you did join the group please re-join as the system deleted the members, two of us have had to re-join.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -
The rear axle is an improved version, the wheels are mounted in there natural state with little side pressure required.
Have a close look at the pictures.
It also has thread on the outside to allow for mounting Spinners.
I am very happy with the final result.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -

MCRA reacted to this post about 10 months agoHi Les, did you join the WA cyclekart group?
I did and it dropped me I had to join again.
I also have started a build page, we are hoping to get all WA members to the group for local progress and encouragement.
If this helps try and get back on the group.
Our location doesn't seem to otherwise obvious on the site so I mentioned it on my page.

I know that as you guys are building your Cyclekarts you are putting some good work into locating good deals on stuff and some of this stuff can be costly, so I figure that if there's a good deal out there, lets share it with the community. Hopefully that will help people build their Cyclekarts quicker and we can all get that little bit closer to attending and organising some events.More
Feel free to share adverts in the marketplace, but add a note at the bottom if they are not your parts so that you don't get a barrage of questions.
If you don't want to create a post, but want to share a good deal you've come across, DM me the link or post it here and I'll be happy to do it for you.Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. Item will now be visible on your stream. -
