I stumbled across this on another forum that I run. I had completely forgotten that I had posted it, which is not surprising considering that I posted it back in 2017.

It is part of the Workshop Practice series of books and covers making springs. It includes All necessary calcs and details for leaf springs, which are obviously relevant to Cyclekarts.

Hopefully someone might find it helpful.

I got stuck on spring supply for ages before I decided to go transverse leaf instead.

I ended up going to the local trailer parts store and got the smallest 4 leaf eye to eye spring they had - 640mm from memory - and removing the three helper leaves, just leaving the long spring with the eyes.

One 45 x 6mm leaf has a pretty good spring rate for my fat butt (95kg+) and rides smoothly.

From memory about $65

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

I've been trying to find a local manufacturer but they all seem to have 40 x 6mm minimum material size.
