    • me too! I originally built a straight ladder frame. I thought it was good to go, then work out because I was using pillow block bearings for the rearme too! I originally built a straight ladder frame. I thought it was good to go, then work out because I was using pillow block bearings for the rear axle, it would have a massive raked angle with the rear sitting so much higher. So i ended up chopping off the= rear and putting the 'zed' in it. Bit of a pain but in the end it will give a so much better result  More ...

    • Haha, same here. Having the zee'd chassis with pillow block bearings allows easier rear axle removal compared to running the axle through the chassisHaha, same here. Having the zee'd chassis with pillow block bearings allows easier rear axle removal compared to running the axle through the chassis rail. Definitely easier for maintenance.

Have 3D printed some hub caps for the cheap chinesium pit bike wheels. Also some weatherproofing in the guise of black paint, as I don't currently have shed, Still moving forward, albeit slowly.

front axle starting to take shape and more parts slowly starting to arrive.

Some slight design changes, there's a plethora of Austin based karts already, so have decided to base my design on the ERA Type-B. I will most likely model mine off chassis no.10, ERA R10B of Peter Whitehead who won the 9th Australian Grand Prix in this car at Bathurst...

Recovering from the spicy flu, but the weather outside was perfect. So over the last couple of days I've finally made a start!

I've dumbed down the design and am going with a Stevenson style ladder frame.

The frame has been welded together and I'm slowly getting a big stockpile of parts happening.

There is finally some movement at the station

Been making up some drawings to get my head around what needs to happen. These are just a rough guide, but I'll update them as I go and hopefully have a full set off plans by the end of the build.

Made my first purchase for the build today. Ordered the RHS for the chassis and the pillow bearings I'll use for the rear axle.
